MyTexasMusic is run by Lucky and Jinelle Boyd. Lucky is a veteran Texas performer
who, in August 2000, began looking researching what it would take to give a voice
to unsigned Texas musicians on the internet. He inquired from a few of his fellow
performers as to how they were selling their CDs, and most of them admitted that
the bulk of their sales were coming at public performances, but none were too happy
about the results of the Internet sales.
In September 2000, MyTexasMusic began with four artists who had mail order available
on their websites. Those artists were Lucky Boyd himself, along with Grady Lee,
Diane Craig, and Christy Claxton. From those humble beginnings, with only four artists,
the long journey began. The website had only four members from September 2000 to
August of 2001.
Eight years later, MyTexasMusic.com has grown to include hundreds of Texas artists,
making it the world's largest full-service Texas Music website.
